Wattenscheid
Wattenscheid lies around six kilometres to the west of the centre of Bochum, and can actually be described as a small town in itself. The pedestrian zone around the old market offers good shopping facilities. The residential and mixed use areas around it can however be described as basic. However, the streets around the beautifully laid out Stadtgarten represent an exception, as does the district of Leithe, with its impressive large open spaces and meadows. Transport connections: A40 (Wattenscheid and Wattenscheid-West). Regional rail station Wattenscheid. Tram 302 to city centre/Laer and Gelsenkirchen. Various bus routes.
