HomeCompany eG is committed to making its website accessible.
We are working to make our website accessible in accordance with the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG) and the related ordinance (BFSGV).
Which areas are currently not fully accessible?
Despite our efforts, some areas of our website are currently not fully accessible. These include in particular:
- Colour contrast: Some colours in our visual identity – particularly the primary and accent colours – do not yet meet the recommended minimum contrast ratios in certain combinations. This affects buttons, links and coloured highlights, among other elements. An internal project to create an accessible colour scheme is already under way.
- PDF documents that are not accessible: PDF files made available for download, particularly property brochures and forms, do not currently fully meet the requirements for accessible documents.
- Limited keyboard operation: Certain interactive components, such as sliders, accordions, image galleries and the property search, cannot yet be used fully with a keyboard.
- Embedded content: Content displayed in iframes – such as maps showing agency locations – may not be fully accessible. Possible issues include keyboard navigation, insufficient contrast or missing alternative text.
- Content provided by agencies: Each HomeCompany agency is responsible for its own content, particularly property descriptions and images. Alternative text and document structures may be incomplete in this content.
- Limited accessibility of pre-built system components: This website uses pre-built content components from an externally developed system. Despite careful selection and testing, isolated accessibility issues may occur, particularly in keyboard navigation, visual contrast or compatibility with assistive technologies. We aim to improve accessibility continuously.
We are aware of these issues. An internal project to create an accessible colour scheme is already under way, and we are continuously improving the other areas listed above.
